Biology Teacher

Job Description:

The DePaul College Prep Science Department seeks a collaborative, energetic, and positive educator for the role of a biology teacher. Candidates must have experience teaching in one one of the following: biology, chemistry, or physics. The ideal candidate is a qualified and experienced teacher with the following characteristics:

• Values and seeks to understand the cultural and social identities of each student in their class;
• Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into daily teaching; 
• Has knowledge of high school level biology, chemistry, or physics curriculum and NGSS Standards; 
• Has knowledge of state standards regarding the use and disposal of lab materials and proper lab safety protocols;
• Has the ability to communicate and collaborate with peers effectively as sharing of lab space and materials is often required;
• Ability to set up and facilitate labs in a safe way to ensure that students are safe;
• The ideal candidate will have their secondary teaching licensure/certificate;
• A solid foundation in a learning management system or other technology applications is necessary for a one-to-one classroom environment.

 

Qualifications:

BA degree plus active Illinois PEL (teacher certification)

MA degree in the content area is preferred
