Physical Education Teacher

 

 

Job Description:

The physical education department seeks a collaborative, energetic, and positive teacher to instruct students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge and skills in related physical education activities and is able to execute lessons in a positive environment that promotes healthy lifestyles. The ideal candidate is a qualified teacher with the following characteristics:

• Values and seeks to understand the cultural and social identities of each student in class;
• Has the ability to integrate culturally responsive practices into daily teaching;
• Demonstrates capabilities in leadership, public & community relations, and academic competence;
• Applicants must be able to establish effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders;
• Utilizes instructional strategies and practices that are best practices in the field of Physical Education/Health;
• Designs instruction considering student needs, ability levels, interests, classroom performance, and assessment results that are clear and well organized;
• Establishes a trusting environment that fosters risk-taking and enhances positive student self-concept;
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner;
• Maintains professional relationships with students and faculty, follows the ethics of the teaching profession, and promotes the welfare of students at all times.

 

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree & Illinois State Teacher Certification

MA/MS Degree Preferred
