DePaul College Prep, a Vincentian, Catholic, coed high school serving 1400 students in the City of Chicago, seeks a dynamic individual for the role of School Counselor. Job Description:

DePaul College Prep is seeking a School Counselor for the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for a passionate School Counselor to develop and implement the DePaul College Prep Counseling program designed to assist students in their personal, social, and academic development. The school counselor's responsibilities include conducting individual sessions to understand students' interests, motivations, and abilities.  Assisting students with college exploration and career planning; as well as empowering students to utilize the tools they have gained through our rigorous college prep curriculum to become productive and well-adjusted adults.  To be successful as a school counselor you should be compassionate, patient, and adaptable. They must embrace being a leader in the community while forging relationships with peers, and the whole of the DePaul Prep family for the greater good of our community.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect services to students, staff, and families through academic planning, academic achievement, post-secondary planning, brief solution-focused individual counseling sessions, participation in school community events, and other duties assigned;
  • Provide responsive support to all departments including academics, athletics, Learning Support, the Dean’s Office, Mission and Ministry, and the Director of Diversity Equity, and Inclusion;
  • Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the American School Counseling Association’s National Model for School Counseling Program;
  • Conduct a variety of assessments to identify critical areas of students' needs;
  • Design and conduct learning activities in classrooms, large groups, and/or school-wide settings to facilitate the implementation of the school counseling curriculum;
  • Engage in regular professional development; 
  • Faith and its formation is a major cornerstone of DePaul Prep, please ensure you are comfortable and competent in counseling practices that respect and acknowledge diverse faiths.

Qualifications:

MA in School Counseling 

Current Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counseling Endorsement
